There’s really only two, sure-fire ways to win a vote-based video contest; you either have to cheat and vote for yourself over and over or else you need to be an Internet celebrity with a loyal fan base. A few days ago I was reading over the details for the “Touch Down Dance-Off” contest sponsored by the snack food company Food Should Taste Good. (yes, that is their name) All you had to do to enter was film yourself doing a touchdown dance so I actually was considering shooting a submission. But then I noticed that the entry in the lead in the online voting already had about 4,000 votes. My gut reaction was that the guy who made that video must be cheating. But I looked at his facebook page (the contest is run on facebook) and it turns out the filmmaker is an actual internet celebrity with a giant fan base. So for once it looks like a vote-based contest is going to be won by a non cheater.
So I’m relived I didn’t try and enter this one. But Longtime reader and friend of VCN Tim O. e-mailed me today and said he did enter the Touchdown Dance Off contest. He said he knows first place is pretty much out of reach but he’s really close to 2nd place and that comes with a $1,000 prize. Tim’s video is really funny and definitely worth checking out. So follow the link and vote tim’s video! http://apps.facebook.com/tenthousanddance/23171
