If you’ve spent any time screwing around on the Internet this week you’ve probably already heard about “It’s Okay to Do Stuff.” It’s a comedic homage to a strange, celebrity-filled, politically correct children’s album from the 70′s entitled “Free to Be You and Me.” “It’s Ok to Do Stuff” was released just a few days ago and it seems like the album has gone viral. I spend 37 hours a day online so I have read approximately 109,000 articles about this project. Seriously, every time I visit one of my favorite websites I see that pink album cover; NPR, BoingBoing, youtube, LaughingSquid, Furryfetish.net….this thing is all over the place! So what does this have to do with video contests? Well it turns out that one of the creators of the album is Super-Ultra-Mega video contest winner “HappyJoel” Moss Levinson. Joel is Internet famous for winning tons of video contests with fantastic musical entries (you can see lots of his work on his blog.)
One of the most memorable songs from “Free to Be You and Me” was “William Wants a Doll” which told the story of a little boy who, you know…wanted a doll. Oh and it was sung by Alan Alda. Anyways, here’s Joel performing a song that was inspired by William and Hawkeye.
“It’s Ok to Do Stuff” is available for download on iTunes, Amazon MP3, and Google Play. It features songs by hilarious folks like Andy Richter, Samantha Bee and Fred Willard, and it’s only $3.99 so you should probably order it to see what all the fuss is about!
Thanks buddy!
Things for your ears!!!
